Ayurveda Can Transform Your Life

Have you ever called your doctor with a nagging complaint (migraine, ringing in the ears, sinus congestion, bloating, constipation, heartburn, pimples, sciatic pain, etc.) and he tells you there is nothing he can do? Well, there’s an ancient healing science that may provide some answers.

What Is Ayurveda Used For?

Ayurveda is a holistic science from India that dates back thousands of years. The word ‘ayurveda’ is Sanskrit and means ‘science of life’. An Ayurvedic doctor or practitioner may recommend herbs and body therapies as well as diet and lifestyle changes to reduce imbalances in the body (known as doshas) and prevent future imbalances from developing into disease.

A complaint of a symptom is often due to an imbalance in the body. At the initial stage of imbalance, symptoms are generally easily remedied with diet and lifestyle changes. However, if left unchecked the pattern may worsen and serious disease may result in the future.

Ayurveda provides the tools to decipher the origins of these minor imbalances (whether it be physical or emotional). Rather than suppressing symptoms with drugs, Ayurveda seeks to eradicate the root causes of your complaint by treating the whole person — without drugs and before the imbalance manifests into something more serious.

Yoga and Ayurveda Are Connected

Ayurveda is referred to as the sister-science to yoga. In India, the two are incorporated and comprise a complete “wellness road map” for the body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda and yoga are not exercise or diet regimes — they are a way of life for those seeking emotional and physical health and happiness.
