The Yoga on High Teacher Training and Ayurveda Institute has launched the School of Ayurveda (SA). This program prepares you for a career as an Ayurvedic counselor, restoring the natural balance of body, mind and spirit through the wisdom of its holistic approach to health and well-being. Its academic standards for yoga teacher training have always exceeded the minimum for registration through Yoga Alliance, the national body that reviews curriculum for yoga schools. In collaboration with the California College of Ayurveda, it maintains the highest of standards in its Ayurvedic program.Accreditation and Affiliation The School of Ayurveda (SA) is Ohio’s only State-approved Ayurvedic school.Additionally, the SA is an affiliate college of the California College of Ayurveda (CCA), the oldest state-approved college offering Ayurvedic training in the West. Dr. Halpern has been a leading force in developing standards of Ayurvedic education in the United States and is a co-founder of the National Council on Ayurvedic Education. He is one of the few individuals whose work has been honored with awards in both the United States and India. Due in part to CCA’s comprehensive, focused curriculum, CCA has graduated among the most successful Ayurvedic counselors in the West. Both SA and CCA faculty are hand-picked by Dr. Halpern for their knowledge of Ayurvedic principles and healing modalities, their hands-on experience with clients, their good communication skills and their application of general educational techniques. Meet our Ayurveda Faculty here.Classroom Hours The School of Ayurveda offers the highest number of in-classroom hours of training in Ayurvedic principles and practice in the United States. This program is offered in two training formats: a weekend option that includes 11 in-person weekends and takes place Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm; and an a evening option that meets in person Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to  9:00 pm and for three weekends (Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm) .Personalized Online Learning Platform The entire course is organized through an online learning platform where you can access the course syllabus, homework assignments, quizzes, class schedules, the status of your progress through the coursework and much more.  It also provides a forum for communication with other students and with the SA faculty. Over the 11- month program each student builds a portfolio of their work for final grading.Access to Other Classes at Yoga on High Over the course of the 11-month program, you have an unlimited pass to Yoga on High’s (YOHI) open class schedule. You can embody the practices of yoga and Ayurveda by taking asana, pranayama, iRest™ and meditation classes with YOHI’s highly trained and experienced teachers, a $1000 value. On our team, we have more than 20 administrative staff and 40 teachers whose goal is to serve the needs of our students and create a sanctuary for learning, growth and awakening. We are well aware that a strong and supportive community is an aid on the path to personal growth and wellness. The SA community offers you the chance to come together with like-minded individuals for the purpose of practicing yoga and Ayurveda and fostering optimal wellness. We are also dedicated to charitable outreach into the wider community through the programs sponsored by the Yoga on High Foundation, which serves people who would not otherwise have access to yoga (prisoners, traumatized war veterans and trafficked women, as examples). Our all-volunteer community gardeners raise more than a ton of fresh produce each year which is donated to a local, inner-city food pantry.A Dedicated Training Space and Counselor Rooms In addition to our multiple yoga studios, the Teacher Training Institute has dedicated space for trainings in yoga, UZIT-Urban Zen™, Ayurveda, Reiki and specialized training intensives. The space is aesthetically pleasing, which helps create a safe sanctuary for learning. The Teacher Training Institute is conveniently located in the vibrant Short North district in Columbus, near restaurants that serve healthy, well-prepared food. The Institute has plenty of free parking.Onsite Apothecary and Wellness Boutique Our Apothecary and Wellness Boutique carries the supplies you need for your Ayurvedic practices as well as essential oils for aromatherapy and other items you might use for self-care.Partnership with California College of Ayurveda Through SA’s partnership with CCA, you to have access to all CCA’s resources and are eligible to take their advanced programs such as making herbal formulas, internships and residencies.
