Do you enjoy art, experience, yoga, meditation or the ancient wisdom of India? Deborah Abel of the Deborah Abel Dance Company contacted me on LinkedIn yesterday with information about her upcoming performance. Have you seen ‘Calling to You’?

‘The work honors the role of ancient yogic wisdom in addressing the modern problems of ennui, and personal and spiritual disconnection.’

Check out these video clips for a glimpse inside. See it yourself on January 25th, 26th, 2014 at the Tsai Performance Center, Boston University.

Calling to You: A Tale of Ancient Wisdom in the Modern World is an evening-length work of modern dance and live music. The theme of this concert is the role of ancient yogic wisdom in addressing the modern problems of ennui and spiritual disconnection. This theme is investigated through the parallel and interlocking stories of a modern American couple and an ancient Indian couple. Using an adaptation of an Indian parable we follow the journeys of a man and woman in ancient India separated in youth. Immersion in meditation and Bhakti Yoga teaches them that they must learn who they truly are before they can reconnect and recognize each other. Through the evolution of the ancient couple the contemporary couple come to clearly see themselves and each other.

The Deborah Abel Dance Company presents Calling to You, an evening of modern dance, which premiered in Boston (2012). After a 3 city tour of India last December the company is returning to perform at the Tsai Performance Center with an ensemble of 11 dancers, and 7 musicians under the musical direction of Lee Perlman. The concert will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 7:30 P.M. and Sunday, January 26 at 3:00 P.M. atTsai Performance Center
